Edible Arrangements

After years of working in the catering business, sisters' Jill Foster and Danna Crowe decided they wanted to head in a different direction. They enjoyed working together and wanted to find an opportunity they could continue to keep in the family.

Their brother-in-law, who is in the produce business in Atlanta, told them about a new franchise opportunity he thought would be right up their alley. As soon as the duo was introduced to Edible Arrangements, they were sold.

"We wanted to do something new and fresh and different," said co-owner, Danna. "We were very impressed by Edible Arrangements and thought it was a perfect fit for us."

Edible Arrangements opened its doors in The Shops at Ansonborough last April. Jill said she chose Ansonborough because she loved the mixed-use aspect of the development and the great location. The vast array of fresh fruit arrangements, balloons and gifts have been a hit with local residents.

"I just love their fresh fruit arrangements, especially the strawberries dipped in chocolate," said Ansonborough resident, Catherine Harden. "Their work is very artistic - really pretty. We have given many items as gifts and they have been a hit with our friends."

Edible Arrangements can create a perfect bouquet for any occasion. They are currently preparing for a very busy Valentine's Day. You can view their offerings at www.ediblearrangements.com. To order, call 706-354-3766.

Art Show

Augusta artist, Lillie Morris, displayed works on Nov. 30. from her two-week residency last Spring at Cill Rialaig (kill-reelig), an abandoned famine village on Ireland's rugged southwest coast, which has been restored as an international artists' colony. Morris drew much inspiration from her time abroad and created several works, including scenic views of St. Finan's Bay, wild lilies, ruins, curraghs on the beach, cottages and farm animals. Morris not only paints, but also plays the fiddle and has become well known in Augusta's art community as an Irish fiddler and Celtic impresario. Galis Properties, Inc., plans to bring Morris and her Irish musicians group, Sibin (she-bean), back to Ansonborough in Spring 2007 for a concert
